Our journey through the Baltics began in 2017 when we planned a short city break in Lithuania. Later on, Sebi wanted us to go to Estonia for his birthday (that was 2 years ago), and since we happened to be there in summer, we enjoyed the “almost white” night phenomenon for the first time. I say “almost white” because we still experienced 4 hours of darkness every night. Of the three sisters of the Baltic family, the largest one, Riga, was the only one left unexplored.

And although we could have got to Riga easily and cheaply, we postponed this trip without necessarily having a good reason. However, the reason for not getting to Latvia until now was fate itself. I want to believe that we arrived in Riga when we were supposed to.

On a cold November weekend, when we were about to celebrate six wonderful years of relationship. Six years out of 25 and 30 years of life seems like an incredible amount to me, and all year long we said we would do something special for our anniversary, Paris being the one that always came to mind. But just when we wanted to get tickets to Paris to celebrate a weekend full of clichés, we decided to go crazy. To go to Riga for two days at the end of November.

Now that I’ve told you how and why we ended up in Riga, I want to show you 10 photos (out of the many I’ve taken) that will convince you to visit this little city gem. Or at least I hope so! 😀 I’ll also post a mini travel guide soon to help you plan your trip to Riga.
